It’s no coincidence that our lectionary theme for today is “The Holy Spirit teaches us integrity.” This is God ordained! Integrity and fatherhood, fatherhood and integrity — two things that should go hand in hand.
Psalm 17 is a prayer of David. In the first part of this Psalm, he takes great lengths in expressing his integrity before God. He was being true to God by praying what was in his soul with all honesty.
To have integrity is live an open book in the eyes of God. It is to be transparent in front of our Lord. It is to be able to open our closets to other people and they will find no skeletons in it.
