14th Sunday in Kingdomtide
“The Fulfillment Of Christ’s Kingdom”
When this pandemic started in the middle of March of this year after a series of earthquakes, volcano eruptions – Ellinwood-Malate Church is way, way moving along in all her plans and programs. Then came the lockdown. In a span of one week, we were confined at home. No gatherings, no activities, and financially – no receipts. But this pandemic did not, in any way, hinder us to look beyond. Our first act in this pandemic was to gather our resources and voilà – in three days’ time, through our young people’s initiative via their gifts and skills using the latest technology, we had gathered one hundred three thousand pesos to purchase personal protective equipment for our members who are in the frontline of health services. Then after which, we came to understand that even “on-line” we can gather and worship, do Sunday Schools, have Bible Studies, attend seminars, sit down and have a meeting. Our giving started picking up. One family delivered canned goods, grocery items, food packs for those who are in need, members and non-members. Immediate recipients were the street dwellers, displaced families, members who were caught in the middle of a “no work-no pay” policy. In the midst of a pandemic, typhoon after typhoon came, and Ellinwood Malate Church standeth sure during these times.
