“The Power Of The Presence Of The Holy Spirit”
3rd Sunday of Advent
JOY IN THE SPIRIT
Isaiah 61;1-4, 8-11
In Mary’s song we can see three distinct parts. The first part is about Mary’s expression of what she feels in her heart and that is, praising God with joy. The second part deals with the sharing of what God has done in her life. The last part describes the way God deals with His people especially those living in the spirit of humility and lowliness.
Let me share first how Mary expressed her feelings about God. In verses 46-47, we can read these statements: “My soul magnifies the Lord.. My spirit rejoiced in God my Saviour.” Here we see two different tenses, the first statement makes use of the present tense while the last statement makes use of the past tense. This shows that Mary’s soul magnifies the Lord, because her spirit has already rejoiced in God. A spirit that rejoices in God leads a soul to magnify God. Ang Espiritu na nagagalak sa Dios ay umaakay sa kaluluwa na magpuri sa Dios.
